State Farm is great for their low premiums but if you have a claim they will do anything they can to get out of helping you.

We had roof damage from the tornadoes/storms back in March of last year. I made a claim only to be rejected due to us not "meeting the threshold for hail damage" and my roof damage was just normal wear and tear.

I accepted this, however the claims adjuster would not give me any of the photos that he took to make that determination, calling them " work products".

Apparently 30 days after he came out, underwriting did a drone inspection of my roof and made the determination that I would not be renewed if I didn't install a new roof. I never received this correspondence, not via email, call or letter. It took 7 months before I got any notification from Scott Clayton's branch. They texted me to ask if I had replaced my roof in December after underwriting had done their inspection the previous May.

According to Scott, "We don't check those emails that we are CCed on because they are direct communications to the client." Then why are you my agent? He says they do this with most of the emails that come that way having to do with non-renewals. This is who you will be working with at Scott Clayton's branch, at least when he's not out on vacation.

I decided to reopen the claim to see if a different adjuster would change their mind and after dragging their feet, I had to physically go to Clayton's office and to ask for an update.

While I was there, Scott stayed behind a closed door and did not meet me. He couldn't be bothered to even pop his head out to address me.

Thankfully Megan in the office was super helpful and got me in touch directly with the adjuster where he told me that they not only wouldn't cover anything but they would not release any photos that caused them to make this determination.

Maybe you have a better agent with State Farm, but definitely stay away from this branch. They'll take your money and then disappear when it's time for help.

I have all the receipts too, Scott. I may not have wanted to get into a long legal battle with a company as big as State Farm but I'll make sure I tell as many people as possible how terrible they are as an organization, specifically your branch. They're not in the insurance business, they lure people in with low monthly premiums to make their money and then they'll hide behind corporate and blame them for what they can or can't do for you."
